With some sensitivity toward the haphazard use of the word philosophy, let’s try and think of the term ‘operating principles.’ We all have different characteristics, abilities and skills. If one shares with you that she really does not get grades of A- in school, or it is rare, she may have aptitudes that many of us don’t. However, rather than say to such a person, “I really could never and can’t,” or, “That is better than I could ever do,” for reasons that are difficult to articulate currently, an operating principle might involve silence or redirection to a different matter or topic.
Blogging, media, and successful navigation of financial markets probably are not the same thing. How popular has it ever been to say, “No, I would rather do homework, that is why my quiz marks are better than yours?” Is that what anyone writes to gain followers?
Rather than state, “My capacity to moderate comments is diminished,” or, “Someone else must be markedly better at generating page views and sticky users,” this site simply relegates moderation and networking to secondary, tertiary, or some lower level of importance. (The sourcing of international page views here is a source of curiosity–if they are in fact from all over the world and not, for example, persons masking their IPs. Then there are those who prevent tracking. All commentators have been anonymous…)
If someone would like to volunteer to moderate comments, maybe something can be worked out? Alternatively, if someone has constructive remarks on why a potential trade may have pitfalls, it might be helpful. It has been an observation that one could turn cyanotic waiting for acknowledgement or gratification of stock picks that outperform. Pursuant to fairly extensive research, you may identify a stock that immediately gains 50% within 3 months, and publicly broadcast all of it–they can go up, down, or stay the same–but have persons who respond with impersonal and unrelated remarks, that do not seem credible, to prior posts! Why would someone do that? It is not being encouraged.
If a comment got deleted that shouldn’t have, the commenter may have a right to be peeved or irritated–if not already irascible or petulant. My regrets if well-meaning activities have been discouraged. There are also persons who carry on in noxious, regrettable, villanous, invidious, nefarious or criminal ways and they could be anonymous commenters.
There are also persons with gainful jobs, if not careers, in social media. There may or may not be implicit skills or traits that others lack. However, it is not what is going on behind the scenes here.
